The Universe hands you exactly what you need, when you need it.

As a spectator watching the Krew of Chewbacchus, I was swimming in the magic of community while my photographer self wanted to capture it all. Marigny was alive with hugs while DIY-ed throws were being shared by the parade members to the crowd. The energy was high and the voices even louder with cheers and encouragement. My eyes and shutter button were ready.

Then she appeared. A fellow Asian lady in the Wonder Woman krewe, who saw me. She reached out and gently pressed this pin into my hand, holding my fingers just a moment longer than I expected.

I almost cried. The pin had a butterfly clutch / protective pin back, so not from that.

But from the sweetest gesture and the reminder.

We get stuck in our heads about things that we can’t do and how there’s just “not enough.” Not enough time. Not enough skills. Not enough height. Not enough impact.

But what if we flipped the script playing like a broken record in our heads? What if we focused on our superpowers: creative strategy, curiosity, finding those silver linings?

For 2025, I’m focusing on feeling right over “looking” right. I’m going to continue creating space where people can be seen and heard. And I’m going to focus on doing big, spectacular things with people who want to shed that scarcity and anxiety mindset.
